Friendly Reminder représente la genèse de l’intérêt de Menéndez pour le calendrier en tant que sujet. Avec le personnage au beau milieu, le calendrier devient un paysage de routines, d’attentes et de toutes les pensées connexes. La note Post-it est à l’origine un message pour l’artiste : un rappel que le parcours d’une personne transgenre lui est propre et que les comparaisons n’ont pas lieu d’être.

Friendly Reminder represents the beginning of Menéndez’s interest in the calendar as a subject. By laying the figure right in the middle, the calendar becomes a landscape of routine, of expectations and of the other thoughts between. The Post-it note is originally a message for the artist themselves; a reminder that their path as a trans person is uniquely their own and not to compare themselves to others.
