The images in this series were made while on a residency in Blairmore, Alberta, at the historic studio of Thomas Gushul, the community’s photographer from the early to mid twentieth centuries. The series not only reflect the history-laden appearance of the place, but makes reference to the legacy of the documentarian himself. Gushul was primarily a portrait photographer, and this image, made of long-time resident barber John and a client tie together past and present.
