Lorsqu'un serpent attrape sa proie, il commence à l'avaler tout entière. Ses mandibules sont attachées par des ligaments extensibles qui lui permettent d'ouvrir une bouche beaucoup plus grande que sa tête. Petit à petit, il penche sa gueule sur la victime, l'enserrant progressivement ; sa peau écailleuse s'étire pour épouser la forme du corps avalé. L'acte de digestion, de consommation du monde déforme et plie le corps.

When a snake catches its prey, it begins to swallow it whole. Its mandibles are attached by stretchy ligaments which enable the snake to open its mouth much larger than its head. Bit by bit it will lurch its mouth over the victim, steadily enclosing it; its scaly skin stretches to the shape of the swallowed body. The act of digestion, of consuming the world distorts and bends the body.
