Danica Olders constructs objects and situations in order to examine how space is inhabited, navigated, and shared. How do routines develop into a sense of belonging, and how do they then accumulate into systems of ownership and care? In her work space is treated as a living psychic territory between bodies, objects, and built environments. Sculptural concerns of mass and balance intersect with painterly strategies of composition and lighting, alongside theatrical approaches to scenography and narrative sequencing. Working playfully across sculpture, ceramics, textiles, painting, and scripted elements, Olders’ work moves between object and installation. Rather than resolving the psycho-spatial conditions her work may expose, it sustains those tensions, foregrounding questions of access, power, and the quiet structures that shape everyday life.

Danica Olders holds a BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (2011) and an MFA from Concordia University (2026), where she was supported by the Dale & Nick Tedeschi Studio Arts Fellowship. She has participated in artist residencies in Italy, Spain, Denmark, Austria, and Sweden, and her work has been presented in exhibition, public, and community-based contexts locally and internationally. In addition to her studio practice, Olders has developed murals and site-responsive projects, and has collaborated with artists, musicians, and organizations, to offer workshops and to facilitate other forms of collective engagement and the use of public space.
