Médéric Corbin paints, sculpts, prints, and writes. His artistic practice is characterized by a dogged pursuit of visual ideas that captivate him for their polysemic potential. He holds firmly to these ideas and drifts with them until they become autonomous and their ramifications overwhelm him.
To do so, he engages in an ongoing dialogue with his figurative and semi-figurative works by duplicating and dissecting them. He believes that a visual work gains from its repetition, disclosing what lies hidden behind its apparent stability. The work then becomes a site of inquiry rather than a place for demonstration. It evolves, always revealing itself as something other than what it appears to be at first glance.
Corbin’s works reflect a world where intersections between ecstasy and anguish feed, complement, and confront. They invite an encounter with oneself and with others in order to question our individuality and our relationship to the world.
Médéric Corbin is a visual artist from Tiohtiá:ke / Mooniyang / Montréal. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Concordia University in Montréal, where he was awarded the Yves Gaucher Prize. His works are shaped by theoretical and conceptual frameworks that interest him not so much for their ability to guide interpretation, but rather for the limitations they entail, which he strives to transcend.
Corbin’s work has been featured in solo exhibitions at Fais-moi l’art (Montréal, 2026), the Centre d’exposition du Vieux Presbytère (Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, 2023), and Galerie Hangar 7826 (Montréal, 2022), among others. His practice has been supported by the Canada Council for the Arts and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec.
