Les procédés d’entrelacement, de pliement et de plissage d’un tissu s’apparentent aux pratiques de soins. Par ailleurs, une étoffe repliée dissimule plus de la moitié de sa superficie. Sans cette ampleur additionnelle, les plis ne sauraient exister. Ici, ils représentent des couches superposées, tandis que le pliage et le dépliage symbolisent des actes de soin, le passage du temps, une cérémonie, voire un processus linéaire structuré associé aussi bien à la dissimulation qu’à la révélation.


NOTE – Cette œuvre a notamment été montrée à l’organisme Art souterrain (Montréal, 2021) et à la galerie Mary E. Black du Conseil des arts de la Nouvelle-Écosse (Halifax, 2020) de même que dans le cadre de l’exposition solo Codex III, tenue à la galerie du Conseil des arts de Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador (St. John’s, 2022).

Binding, folding, and pleating of cloth are processes that relate to practices of care. When folding, more than half the fabric in a fold is hidden. Without the added depth, the fold cannot exist. Folds are layers, folding and unfolding is an act of care, a passage of time, a ceremony, a structured linear process of covering and revealing.


Note: part of the exhibition of Art Souterain 2021, Montreal, and in Halifax at the Mary E Black Gallery (Craft council gallery of Nova Scotia in 2020 for in solo exhibition CODEX III At the Craft Council Gallery of Newfoundland and labrador in Saint Johns, 2022.
